A hardy fuchsia needs no extra protection in the winter once established

Fuchsia is a genus in the family Onagraceae with about 100 species. Winter hardy fuchsias are hardy enough to be used as hedges and in permanent plantings.

They will bloom with elegant bell-like flowers from early summer and will continue blooming until the frost arrives! All fuchsias grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, with shelter from cold, drying winds is best. Fuchsias prefer shade for the hottest part of the day.

To ensure your hardy fuchsia plants survive harsh winter we recommend you can apply a mulch of compost or bark around the base of your plants in the autumn.
